About All Things Turf

The road to Colorado all began back in 1993 when Doug lived in Denver for a time after college. His life plan was always to come back when the time was right.

Where our turf journey began: Doug had founded and operated ‘Synthetic Turf of Illinois’ in Chicago in 2000 (when the internet was really coming into it’s own). Alicia joined his life, and the business in 2007. Alicia managed the front office while Doug did what he does best, designing and building putting greens, and installing synthetic grass. Alicia also began selling residential lawns during this time. Together, they grew a successful business.

By 2019, their children had all flown the coop, and the time was right to make the move back to Colorado. Thankfully, by this time they had an exceptional General Manager who purchased STI, and they headed to Colorado, and settled in to Parker. In 2020, All Things Turf/Tour Greens Denver was born.

Doug has been factory trained by Synthetic Turf International, Celebrity Greens, and Tour Greens-the best, most regarded turf organizations in the world. Before Doug joined the synthetic turf industry he was a managing partner and Sales and Marketing Manager for his family’s 35-year old Midas Auto Repair franchise in Bradley, Illinois for five years. Prior to that (fresh out of college), he was a sales rep for a small ‘Mom and Pop’ office coffee service company here in Denver. Doug paid his way through college by serving in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. He served in a Heavy Artillery Unit that was called to active-duty during the Desert Storm conflict in 1990.

Alicia is an accomplished baker and cake decorator, and had owned and operated a successful bakery in her home state of Indiana before joining Doug’s world. Before that, she worked the assembly line at Subaru Isuzu Automotive in Lafayette, Indiana building vehicles while raising her two boys. A very physically demanding job, but also very rewarding. It all led them to where they are now. Together, along with their Class A PGA Professional and VP of Sales, Carson Peddycoart, their Commercial Business Developer, Cooper Simmerman, MBA, and their Warehouse Manager, Brian Gray, who has 25 years experience in the turf and flooring industry, they are a tough team to beat when it comes to experience!

When Doug and Alicia aren’t working their business, they love spending time outdoors hiking, golfing, skiing, visiting their kids, friends, and other family back in the Midwest, exploring Colorado and the surrounding states, and taking their Golden Retriever (and company mascot), Chelsea, on long walks and adventures. Doug and Alicia were both raised with ‘midwestern values’, and run their business by ‘The Golden Rule’-they treat every customer and potential customer the way they would want to be treated. They treat their customers like family-and provide the same quality products, installation, and service as if they WERE family. They only hire employees that carry similar values, and this philosophy is the cornerstone of their business. They look forward to meeting new people, building their business, and helping the economy of Douglas county and the Denver Metro Area grow!
